Google Ads in VS Code agent mode
Add PaidHelm to .vscode/mcp.json and use GitHub Copilot agent mode to query Google Ads and apply changes from VS Code.
GitHub Copilot's agent mode in VS Code supports MCP servers, including remote HTTP servers with OAuth. PaidHelm plugs in with a four-line file.
Setup
Create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace (or add to user settings):
{
"servers": {
"paidhelm": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.paidhelm.com/googleads/mcp"
}
}
}
VS Code shows a Start action above the server; click it, then complete Google's sign-in when prompted. Open Copilot Chat in Agent mode and the tools are available.
Try
#paidhelm list my Google Ads accounts, then show October spend by campaign for the first one.
Build a paused Search campaign from docs/brief.md with 3 ad groups and one RSA each.
Notes
- Use the tools picker in Copilot Chat to enable or restrict PaidHelm tools.
- Organization policies can disable MCP in Copilot; check with your admin if the server does not start.
Put PaidHelm on your own account.
