Quickstart: connect Google Ads to your AI assistant in 5 minutes

Step-by-step: add the PaidHelm MCP server to Claude, sign in with Google, and run your first Google Ads report from the chat. Free plan, no credit card.

This guide uses Claude because it is the most common client. Other assistants differ only in where you paste the server URL; see Client setup.

  1. Create your free PaidHelm account. Open the portal and sign in with Google. Free includes 30 tasks a month and needs no card.
  2. Add the connector in Claude. In Claude (web or desktop) go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it "PaidHelm Google Ads" and paste the URL below. Click Add, then Connect.
    https://mcp.paidhelm.com/googleads/mcp
  3. Authorize Google Ads. Claude opens Google's consent screen. Choose the Google account that has access to your ads accounts and accept the Google Ads permission. You are redirected back and the connector shows as connected.
  4. Run your first report. Start a new chat, make sure the PaidHelm connector is enabled for that chat, and ask:
List my Google Ads accounts, then show the last 30 days of cost, clicks, conversions and cost per conversion by campaign for the main one.
The assistant calls listar_contas and then consultar_relatorio. Two tasks.
  5. Try a safe change.
Which search terms spent more than $30 this month with no conversions? Show me the list first, don't change anything yet.
Review the list, then tell the assistant which ones to add as negatives.
Tip. Put standing rules in your Claude project instructions, e.g. "Always show me the change before executing. Never raise a daily budget by more than 20% without asking."

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Google Ads developer token?
No. PaidHelm provides API access. You only need a Google account that can access the Google Ads accounts you want to manage.
Which Google account should I sign in with?
The one that already opens your Google Ads accounts in ads.google.com. If you use a manager account (MCC), sign in with the login that has access to it and all client accounts will be available.
Is the first step different for ChatGPT or Cursor?
Only step 2 changes: where you paste the server URL. See the client setup page for each assistant.
