Connecting your Google Ads account
How PaidHelm authorizes Google Ads through Google OAuth, how manager (MCC) accounts and multiple client accounts work, how to switch accounts and how to disconnect.
How authorization works
The first time your assistant calls PaidHelm, you are sent to Google's consent screen. PaidHelm asks for a single Google Ads permission (auth/adwords) plus your email to identify you. Google returns a refresh token that PaidHelm encrypts and stores. From then on every tool call uses that token on your behalf. You never share your Google password with PaidHelm.
Which Google account to use
Use the login that already opens your accounts in ads.google.com. PaidHelm can reach every Google Ads account that login can reach:
- A single business account: sign in with the owner or admin login of that account.
- A manager account (MCC): sign in with the login that has access to the manager. All client accounts beneath it are available; PaidHelm sets the manager as login customer automatically when needed.
- Agency with several unrelated logins: each login becomes its own PaidHelm account. Consider consolidating access under one manager account first.
Listing and choosing accounts
Ask the assistant to list accounts. listar_contas returns every accessible customer ID with its name and whether it is a manager. Tools that act on an account take a customer_id; the assistant remembers the one you choose for the rest of the conversation. If you work with many accounts, name the client in your prompt ("for Acme Dental…") and the assistant will pick the right ID.
Switching the connected Google account
- Open the portal and disconnect Google Ads.
- In your assistant, disconnect and reconnect the PaidHelm connector.
- On Google's screen choose the other account.
Disconnecting and revoking
You can revoke PaidHelm at any time from the portal or from myaccount.google.com → Security → Third-party access. Revocation is immediate; PaidHelm deletes the token on the next failed call. Your plan and task counter remain until you delete the account.
Permissions inside Google Ads
PaidHelm can only do what your Google login can do. A read-only user in Google Ads will be able to run reports but not change anything; a standard or admin user can make changes. Managing permissions therefore stays where it belongs, in Google Ads.
