The 15-minute weekly Google Ads routine
A repeatable weekly Google Ads review you can run from Claude or ChatGPT in about 15 minutes and 10 tasks: performance deltas, pacing, search terms, keyword hygiene, ads and a written summary.
Most accounts do not need daily fiddling. They need a disciplined weekly pass that catches drift early. This is the routine we run for our own clients through PaidHelm; it takes about 15 minutes and roughly ten tasks per account.
1. Deltas (2 tasks)
Look for a cause before reacting: a budget change, a new competitor, a tracking problem. The assistant can check change_event if something looks unexplained.
2. Pacing (1 task)
3. Search terms to negatives (2–3 tasks)
Approve the obvious junk. Leave "relevant but not converting yet" alone for another week.
4. Keyword hygiene (1–2 tasks)
Low QS with spend means a landing page or ad relevance issue. Zero impressions for 90 days means remove or move to broader match.
5. Ads and extensions (1 task)
6. Budget and bid adjustments (1–2 tasks)
Based on the above, apply the changes you decided on, one by one, with the assistant confirming each: raise budget here, tighten target CPA there, pause the keyword that ate $200 for nothing.
7. Written summary (0 tasks)
Paste into your email or project notes. Over months this becomes the account's history.
Make it one sentence
Save the whole routine as project instructions in Claude or a Custom GPT. Then each week the entire review is: "Run the weekly review for Acme." The prompt library has the full text.
